Research Interests
- Geometric, combinatorial, and categorical representation theory
- Lie theory and quantum groups
Overview
I am currently a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa and a member of the Algebra and Lie Theory Research Groups as well as the Network Of Lie Theorists. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia and my Ph.D. at Yale University under the supervision of Igor Frenkel. After graduating, I spent a semester at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in Bonn, Germany before spending two and a half years as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto and the Fields Institute. My current research involves the use of geometric, combinatorial, and categorical methods to study various topics in representation theory. This research is supported by an NSERC Discovery Grant.
I am currently on the Editorial Board of the Canadian Journal of Mathematics, the Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, Algebras and Representation Theory, and PUMP Journal of Undergraduate Research.
Open Access Texts
Whenever possible, I try to use open access texts when teaching. Together with a colleague, I've started a website OpenAccessTexts.com listing open access undergraduate textbooks. If you have suggestions for texts to add to the site, please let me know.
